thats super dooper creepy for one, love the character but i wish the dark tones were throughout the entire drawing, i really like how this piece flows, reminds me of a silent hill scene or something!!! great work , my max!

Silent Hill...
Hm, missed that game. Heard good things about it.
Maybe I should check it sometime.
Thanks for your encouragement.

Gawd I find these drawings of yours...the last 2...really spooky! I mean they are really unnerving. That is excellent! Very surreal quality to this.

I like the contrasting styles between the main character and his background.
It's very nightmarish - like your style.

I agree with andy - additionally what makes your last several drawing more intriguing is that you can literally see your style progressing - Good stuff. +8 ( would have been +9 but I would have liked to have seen the background developed more )

@Andy:
The unnerving mood comes from lack of sleeping I think. :)

@Traff:
Thanks, man. Glad I could be of service. :p
There's more to come...

@Clairvoyant:
"I would have liked to have seen the background developed more"
There's enough to explore in the background imo. I didn't want to overload it.
Thanks for the critique.

indeed a uniqueness all it's own, my only questions is why did you not use the same for the main character as through out the image, all is good, I like it....

I simply liked the effect. :)

conceptually, this is very interesting and mysterious...the compo is very tight, but overall it works pretty well. Nice use of depth between the foreground guy and the guy in the distance. I agree there is enough to explore in the background, but I would have worked the shadows/contrast/textures more to give it more substance...just me though...nice work (thumbup)

This is so creepy and I love it! The way you portray the wind is awe-inspiring. I would like to see more contrast and maybe additional tone-shifts so my eyes move systematically rather than all over the place. Still, you get top marks for this one, it's the soul behind the work that counts! +9/9

mag deinen geschwungen stil, gibt den bildern automatisch eine surrealen touch. bei diesem kommt die erdrückend atmosphäre durch den hintergrund und die extremen kontraste :)

You have a very unique style, I must agree with Dean's shadows\contrast\textures comment.

@Dean:
Yeah, I agree. The next thing I have to learn is more patience. Again.
Seems like the biggest of all lessons for me. But I feel that it gets better and better.
Thanks for your critique.

@klyph:
Awe-inspiring? What a word. My humble thanks for this wonderful compliment.
Additional tone-shifts for the eye sound like a cool idea. Don't know if my skills are strong enough by now. That eye-movement path is partly still a riddle to me.

@kamil:
Thanks. Hatte auch nen guten Tag. Hab gar keinen Radiergummie verwendet. :)

Ok...this is gonna sound harsh so apologies in advance.

For me the paleness of your pencil work just doesn't work..at best it looks unfinished...at it's worse it looks amateurish. Your unique visions and bizarre imagery are completely undermined by the lack of contrasts and uniform, spidery pencil lines...nothing catches the eye.

However...now you come along with some great ink work on this crazy looking dude...proving you have much, much more to offer us...use that same mixture of free form ink lines and solid shading on an ENTIRE picture and I think you'll give us all something to sit up and take notice of.

Again apologies for sounding so harsh...but that head really rocks, so I figured you could handle the slap for the wimpish background!! :)

Avatar Gods-Mistake

 06/25/06 @933

Doesn't sound harsh at all. Sounds honest. :)

My inking skill always works with old or twisted faces, but it's not easy when it comes to the soft skin of a real lady for example. So I still need way more practice, before I can make you all sit up.
But I'm on the track. I agree about the paleness of my pencil work (I hate it), but I just bought myself a sweet 6B. So this point will also improve. :)

Again: Thanks for your honest crit. It's much appreciated! (B)

I really like the face, but the background doesn't work for me...the contrast between the technique used in each is too strong I guess... seems unfinished or something.

Still, I love the twisted face...great inking skills there!
