Description

Cup marks (mostly tea, but some cocoa too) combined with ink and pencil.
I always have a A2 paper laying on my desk. Maybe that explains it. Maybe not.
I don't care.

Thanks Dean for the pushing.

And everyone, do me a favor. Look at it full view. Those 716 pixels are worthless sometimes...
Enjoy! (B)

Very very cool! You might not have needed to go over the lines of the two moons in the corner. I love how her dress merges with the orb's base -- never know if she's pulling or pushing. ;)

Yeah... those line.
The alcohol made me do it. :p
Shall I erase them again? It's just pencil. :)

I love this. It's a great idea, working with cup marks, and is executed perfectly.

Thanks people! :)

@lolita:
Sieht so aus, nicht? Der Kerl ist ja auch ne wandelnde Inspiration. :)
Aber der eigentliche Grund ist (denke ich zumindest), dass wir das selbe Vorbild teilen:
Gustave Doré. (link) ;)
Schau ihn dir an und du weisst bestimmt warum. :)

First of all, once again, the concept of this piece effing kicks ass. I admire the subject matter you've come up with in your last few pieces...always dark, strange and mysterious...right up my alley. Second, your skills are progressing VERY well. I don't know if you've had this inking technique tucked away somewhere and have just now decided to show us, but it is pretty darn good and reminds me of someone I know....

Some observations...The inked characters are rad. Their disproportioned characterics work for me because they add to the overall strangeness and mood of the piece. The integration of the women's dress and the orb is fantastic. (side note: deliverance just came on...lol) The design under the orb is very interesting and it adds a nice touch of randomness to the environment. The road leading away into the distant village is very Escher style and gives the viewer a nice sense of depth...

Some crits...The left side of the illustration seems very empty and lonely. I would add an addtional plane there like a distant mountain range, the base beginning at the center of the village and diagonally extending towards the upper left corner. Maybe a small glimpse of a valley down there too. I think that would improve the compo a great deal. Also, I would define the clouds more and make them a bit more dramatic and epic....I'm a cloud freak.

Overall, great job and I'm looking forward to seeing you explore this style more! Now I have to go and enjoy the brutal outro.........gugugugu gugug gugug gugugugug dududdud...

What are the odds that you mention Deliverance! (HAHA) I had that piece and the "dirge for november" in loop for HOURS while finishing this one.
Glad you like the disproportioned stuff. At first it was a mistake, but then I thought: "Hey... wait a moment... if I add some here and there... coooool!" And now I like the way that it's unsure to whom the legs belong and stuff like that. :)
I know that the left looks empty. I wanted to make the mountain drop on that side. Maybe I should add more clouds on that part... hmhmhm.
I although thought about that additional mountain. I dopped it in the end, but now that you mention it again.............. hmmm... maybe I'll get back to it.
Thanks for the input, man!

Your best piece so far I think...and i can see Deans influence.

I think it's all been said really...apart from the odd cropping at the bottom where her foot slips off the page...make sure something is definately IN the picture or definately OUT of it...don't skim the edge of frame like this.

:)

Avatar Gods-Mistake

 07/22/06 @647

Yeah, you're right.
Actually the picture has more to look at at the bottom. But it's a pain in the ass to scan a A2 picture with a A4 scanner. Don't have enough time right now, but I'll try to correct that.
Thanks for the input.
And yeah. Dean is a really inspiring dude who brought me back to my roots. :)
